Perplexed in Tokyo - A New Tshirt

A new shirt has arrived in my shop! Perplexed Planto in Tokyo is a digital version of my original painting inspired by my time spent being lost and confused in Tokyo. With that said, there is no better city to be lost and confused in because the more lost you become in Tokyo the more you find.

Kid Robot

Last night while hanging out at my friend Josh's house we started talking about robots (which is very rare for me) and he says "Chen! I've been meaning to show you this!" He rummages through some pictures on his work table and comes back with this...

his 5th grade school project that he did with his friend David in 1985 back in Melbourne, Australia. I love everything about this little bot, from his red winter gloves to the surprised expression in his eyes. I requested a scanned image so that I can share him with the world.

Good job Josh and David! I hope you got an A+ or the Aussie equivalent.

New Robot Love Greeting Cards!

Ahhhh ... spring time. The season of love, robot love to be more specific. Robot love really is in the air! I received three inquires this month about helping design items for robot themed weddings. These requests made me very happy because it proved two theories that I've had 1) wedding planning can be fun! and 2) robots are starting to take their relationships to the next level.

So in response to the overflowing robot love I decided to design brand new greeting cards! The cards are now listed in my etsy shop and in my 1000markets shop. I had a lot of fun designing them. The grid background of the cards is continued on the inside as well for all of you love birds who are too excited to write straight you can now use the grid to help.

Kabuki Sam

As some of you may know, my main squeeze, Sam, is the Assistant Director at the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP). The JASGP is known in Philly for their annual cherry blossom festival which officially kicked off last night. This year's events include everything from sushi making contests to a big ole Cherry Blossom celebration in Fairmount park. This year a Kabuki-dance master visiting from Japan, Isaburo Hanayagi, will demonstrate dramatic makeup techniques and costuming on Sam! You have three chances to view this demonstration so make sure you go and see my 6'3 skinny man transformed into a beautiful Kabuki Princess.

Color Celebration!!

This morning I checked the etsy treasury lists and saw that space was opening up in several minutes so I couldn't resist making a new treasury. My inspiration for this treasury were several items that have been in my Favorites for a while. I finally snagged an etsy treasury! I haven't made one of these for a while but my recent trip to Chinatown in search of wedding paper lanterns has inspired me to create a paper lantern themed treasury.
