One of My Favorite Parts of Coming Home...

Looking through my new photos today I found this shot of Sam's mom and his parents adorable dogs greeting us at their doorway. This is the scene every time we come to visit and it warms my heart each time. These dogs are the sweetest girls you'll ever meet and I'm so thankful that they were rescued by such a loving family. Go Dean and Debby!

Botodesigns First NY Show! Recap

Last weekend marked the first ever Botodesigns craft show in NY! I decided to test the waters by selling two days in a row at Artists and Fleas Indoor Designer Market in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The show was great and it was wonderful to have so many NY friends come out to show support.

The show goes from 12-8 on Saturdays and Sundays so it was a long two days but the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I made some new pals and even reunited with a classmate from Pratt, Brookadelphia's Amber Zezeck. Amber and her sis make awesome laser cut jewelry with quirky words and images. Sam and I just couldn't resist buying a pink unicorn necklace for his sis Amy's birthday (which she loved!)

Photograph by Artists & Fleas

We also bought a beautiful shirt for Sam's mama's birthday from Umsteigen, an amazing clothing company, who I will be coming back to for some personal shopping ;)

Since the show was a success I will definitely be looking into doing more shows next year in NY. Can't wait to see you again soon!

The shirt is a 4-color screen print on a super soft and comfortable Lemon American Apparel Fine Jersey Cotton T-Shirt.

I made a very small run so go and grab yours today before they are all gone!

Where in The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

My new etsy treasury is inspired by the travels of Carmen Sandiego. I had the theme song from the show in my head all week long so I couldn't resist making a treasury based on the show. If you are unfamiliar with the theme song from Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego then do yourself a favor and listen to the clip below. Enjoy!

Botodesigns on ArtFire.com

Don't get me wrong I love selling on Etsy, but I decided recently that I would test out Artfire.com. What sold me was the fact that buyers don't need to become members of Artfire in order to purchase. They can simply add something to their cart and buy it via Paypal or Amazon payments. Etsy is a wonderful community but the purchasing process can sometimes be confusing for new buyers who are not yet members.

So if you've been looking to buy some Boto goodies but don't want to sign up for an etsy or 1000markets account then you can head on over to the Botodesigns Artfire webstore!

Going Home Is Fun!

Here are some highlights from our recent returns to Philadelphia:

1. Sam's birthday dinner was a noteworthy event full of delicious cakes, good company and of course wonderful presents...

2. A few weeks later we returned to Philadelphia for the Squidfire Philly Art Mart. Although the weather was rainy and terrible that day, the mood inside the Pine Street Community Center was fun and lively.

We reunited with Philly friends...

and made some new ones ...

3. We also spent a night at Sam's sis and her fiance's place where we reunited with feline and dog friends. Check out the custom Botodesigns print on the top right!

Boto in Boston!

Last Sunday Botodesigns made it's big splash in Boston at SOWA aka South End Open Market.

Now that I live in Connecticut, the New England craft shows are a hop skip and a jump away. I decided to start with SOWA after hearing some lovely reviews. We left at 6am and arrived at 8am for set up. It was a beautiful day, my brand new EZ-up tent went up without a hitch, and the customers and other vendors were friendly and welcoming.

The show was a success and I've decided to return to Boston for a few more SOWA's before the season ends.

So If you find yourself in the Boston area during the next few Sundays make sure you come down to the SOWA market for some artsy goodness, fresh produce, antiques or just to say hello.

Here are the Boto SOWA dates and info:

Movin' On Up to the East Side (of New Haven)

Oh boy... it happened again. Time got away from me once more. Darn you time! You move much too quickly!

Since my last post in June a lot has been going on, with the most notable events being travels near and far and our big move to Connecticut. That's right! As of late August, Sam and I are new New Haven residents. Sam is studying Japanese literature at Yale and I'm here to support and nag him to do his homework though he doesn't need much nagging since he loves his homework. Amazing how that worked out!

After a two week trip to Israel we returned to the States and immediately started jet-laggingly packing up our home in Philly. It was a bittersweet experience-- bitter because for several years before living in that apartment we had been wandering nomads relocating within the US and living abroad, so it was sad to pack up "our home" in Philly since we had finally sort of settled down and gotten used to having family close by. But the sweet part was knowing that we were going to discover a new place together and do something big and exciting for us both.

So we said peace out to the lovely skylight.

See you later bedroom Door of Mystery.

And Sayonara cute Olde City apartment.

Then with the help of Maximum Dave, super parents in-law and my incredible parents we moved half of our belongings to New Haven.

Unfortunately we forgot to bring a shower curtain and since it was the hottest day of the entire summer and we had no air-conditioning, we couldn't forgo showers. Luckily my MacGyver instincts kicked in and I made an extremely classy trash bag shower curtain ... ya.

But the second day of the move we bought fans and a *real* shower curtain and started making the place our own.

We also gave my parents some nap breaks because they really deserved them. I don't know anyone else who would help their kids move everything to another state on the hottest days of the year then proceed to organize/repair everything without an AC, and not complain once. They are superheros.
The second night we took out the brand new Wok (thanks again for the lovely wedding gift Korens!) and Sam made pad thai, which looked like pad thai but tasted like yaki soba. The End/the Beginning.
